While I'm getting the yard cleaned up, mowing, feeding, etc. I noticed a few trees next my house is crawling with two types of large ants. The typical Carpenter Ants, and the same size but different color, large red ants. They seem to be moving around with no conflict, so I can't comment on them. One thing I don't like is that one tree is very close to my house and why are there so many ants on it?
I'll continue to watch it in the future. In the mean time, I won't wait for another attempt on the Carpenter Ants to get a foothold in my house, so time to feed them a little. A little Terro Ant Killer. I squirted some right in the path of some ants, and they responded as planned. The ants gathered and started eating. Funny thing was the red ones never stopped, but the large black ones did. As the day went on and the number of ants grew, I kept the well supplied with Terro Ant Killer. They seem to love it, and how they appear to be filling up and leaving I hope they are returning it to their Queen.
Something I later found out. The ants appeared to be heading all different directions after leaving, so I wasn't able to pin point where the nest was. It was later told to me, they might have bee returning to all different Carpenter Ant Nests. Carpenter Ants usually have on Queen's nest, and several satellite colony nests. So unless I followed each one back, I wouldn't have found them all. I'll let the Terro do the work for me. ;)
