The sellers of our future home accepted our offers, with clauses for home and insect inspections as usual. Well the home inspection found only minor items, but the insect inspection found the house was being frequently visited by Carpenter Ants.
I had a chance to speak to the exterminator and he quickly gave me a brief education of the destructive powers of carpenter ants. Carpenter ants only nest in wood, and do not eat it, so I was lucky they aren't as destructive as termites who do both. Well the house was sprayed and guaranteed to be insect free for a year, per the closing conditions.
I was given tips how to help prevent future infestations. I'll try them out when I move in.
